Following the PM’s announcement last night that England is again in a national lockdown, the club unfortunately is closed once again with immediate effect. The LTA’s confirmation of this is available here
Our club captain, Steve, will keep members updated by email on club matters during the closure.
Graham and the coaching team are delivering a varied programme of group coaching sessions for all ages and abilities plus cardio tennis sessions. Please see the updated Winter programme here and full details of coaching available at WLTC on the coaching page.
Great to see the club open again on 2nd December with members immediately taking advantage of the perfect weather for tennis to play on courts in pristine condition, thanks to Gary, Bill and Mark. Please remember to adhere to the guidelines sent out by Steve about clubhouse use, social distancing, booking courts etc. See the LTA website
for full guidance.
Social tennis sessions are available again – Saturday from 1.30 pm, Sunday from 9.45 am and Tuesday from 6.30 pm.
Sadly, the club is closed again. This took effect from midnight on Wednesday 4th November in line with the Government lockdown rules and guidance from the LTA. Please do not go to the club to play tennis or use any of the club’s facilities – there is no singles play, doubles play or coaching until further notice. Watch out for email updates from club captain Steve and keep up to date on the LTA website
Excellent turnout for the last organised social tennis session before the second national lockdown. Great to see all the floodlit courts in action for some socially distanced doubles, plus the Tennis Tuesday ladies group coaching proving popular. Thanks to Steve for organising the games and to Andy for manning the bar.
Whilst the Halloween Tournament scheduled for Saturday 31st October had to be cancelled due to bad weather, the usual Saturday morning coaching went ahead. The juniors entered into the spirit of Halloween as did Martin pictured here with Konrad aged 8 in full fancy dress! The photo came from Konrad’s mum with a message “Thank you for a great and fun morning! Martin and the crew have been great today, as always. Best regards to all the coaches.”
After six rounds luckily with no rain interruptions, our American Tournament winners were Caroline Gaitley and Chris Rackham. Congratulations to both! We were pleased to welcome Deb Saund’s husband Paul and brother-in-law Dave to the club to present the trophies. Caroline received the new Deb Saund Memorial Trophy from Paul whilst Chris received the Beresford Marshall Memorial Trophy from Dave. Many thanks to Steve for organising the tournament and Hazel for making tea for the players at the end. Also thanks to Andy for opening the bar. Good to see so many new members playing in their first tournament at the club.
